Over the course of three days, twenty of Europe’s finest young conductors go head to head in the prestigious Donatella Flick LSO Conducting Competition. With just 15 minutes on the clock, the conductors bid to show they have what it takes to be crowned winner and become the next assistant conductor to the world famous London Symphony Orchestra.
Through three rounds of eliminations the competitors have to impress with their skills as a conductor in front of the London Symphony, tackling a tricky repertoire and an ever increasing orchestra all under the watchful eye of an esteemed panel of judges led by LSO chief conductor Sir Antonio Pappano. The twenty conductors are whittled down to a final three and with a surprise visit from King Charles the third, the tension builds towards a final concert performance and a life changing prize for the winner.
